I trained as a metalsmith after a decade of doing something else entirely, and I have been making jewelry full time since 2018. My work starts with materials — a stone with an unusual inclusion, a piece of cedar from a tree that had to come down, a length of wire — and the design follows from what the material seems to want to be.
About half of what I make is commissioned: engagement rings, pieces that reset an inherited stone, gifts marking something. The rest is a small, changing collection of pieces made without anyone in mind, which you can find in the shop.

How a commission works
A commission begins with a conversation — what the piece is for, who it is for, what you already have in mind and what you don't. From there I sketch, we settle on a design and a price, and then I make it. Most pieces take three to six weeks from agreeing the design to shipping.
